How to insert or delete a watermark in Microsoft Word
A simple Microsoft Word watermark describes a lot of
information about the document. The often-used "draft" watermark
tells everyone that it's an early version.
The "confidential" sign
indicates some meanings.
A watermark is unclear, washed text, or an image
behind the text. It may be a trademark or warning.
It is very easy to enter a watermark in Word. Let's
learn how.
Enter a watermark in a word
Word provides four default text watermarks, such as
"Confidential", "Emergency", "As soon as
possible", and "Don't copy." If you use them all, entering them
into a document is almost a one-click process.
Start Microsoft Word. Select the Print Layout from the
three icons in the lower-right corner of Word.
Go to the Ribbon tab> Design.
Click the watermark in the Page Background panel to
expand the options under it.
Select the default watermark from the options
provided by Word, but make sure it relates to the document.
The word will place the hidden watermark behind the
text in the document. Again, the watermark is visible only in the print layout
view.
How to use a custom watermark
The default watermark is when speed and comfort are
important. But sometimes Word's limited options don't work for you. You can use
your watermarks and documents.
Two types of custom
watermarks:
Watermark text
Water image
Follow the same steps
above, but select Custom Watermark under the drop-down menu.
How to insert a custom text watermark
Custom watermark hints can include company logos,
names, copyright symbols, or anything related to the document.
This is how to create text watermark.
The Watermark Printing window opens.
Select the text watermark option. The field speaks
for itself
Type the text that you want to use as a watermark in
the text box. Configure options for language, size, color, font, and orientation.
If you want light text or opacity, choose a transparent box.
When you are finished, click Apply.
How to insert a watermark image
You can use photo watermarks to be really creative because you can say a thousand words with good pictures. For example, for a normal document, you can use interesting images or how long it takes to read
the page.
You can create a form that repeats across the entire
page. Use the following steps to set up.
In the Print Watermark
window, select the Selector Watermark option and click the Select Picture
button.
You can upload the image
files from your desktop, search for images or get image files from the OneDrive the folder in the cloud.
When you upload photos
from your computer, click Insert. For the other two online options, click Apply
to use the watermark.
You can change the
appearance of the watermark. The default is Scale, but you can use the
drop-down menu to select a specific percentage.
The Flush option
displays a fade watermark on the page. You can disable this option to display
the actual image, but it will replace the text at the top.
Choose and customize your watermark
Adding your own text or images is not the only way
to customize your watermark. The base is light gray. Word lets you click the
shape by manually changing the color, size, and position of the image.
But how to choose when the watermark is in the
background?
The watermark is part of the document title, whether
it appears in the middle of the page or on the entire page. All you have to do
is double click on the title somewhere at the top of the page.
Once the title section opens, click
"Watermark" to select it as any other item on the page. Move the
pointer over the watermark until the pointer changes to a four-headed arrow.
You can then customize it in four ways:
Drag the watermark to whichever a portion of the page.
You can insert different
watermarks to different parts of the document.
If this is a text
watermark, you can use the WordArt Tools tab to customize the text.
If this is a photo
watermark, you can use the image format or effects using all the options on the
Image Format tab.
Changing the watermark
customization will be automatically reflected on all pages of the document.
How to delete a watermark
There are two ways to
delete a watermark.
Open the header and
footer spaces as described above. Because the image or text watermark is now
editable, you can select it and press the delete key.
Go to the Design
tab> click the Watermark button> select the Delete Watermark option.
Just like moving a
watermark or resizing a watermark, deleting the watermark will remove it from
every page of the document.
More tips on Word watermarks
You can also do other things with the watermark to
increase the productivity of any document.
