DBT- Janaki Ammal- National Women Bio-scientists awards

The official announcement for the Janaki Ammal National Women Bioscientist Award 2019 has released. The Award case Prizes of Rs. 5 lakh and 1 lakh and also Research grands of Rs. 5 lakh also available for selected candidates.

Nature of the Award:

Senior category- National Women Bioscientist Award

No of Award: one

The national Women Bioscientsit Award senior category is awarded to senior women scientist for lifetime contribution, that has done outstanding research in the nation and has applied the results for the benefit of the students and society. The award carries a cash prize of Rs. 5 lakh along with a gold medal.

Qualification

Indian Citizens in basic and applied research in the areas of biosciences and biotechnology

Outstanding contribution in the areas of biosciences and biotechnology

Age limit: No age limitation

Young category-National Women Bioscientist Award

No of Award: Two

The national Women Bioscientsit Award young category is awarded for outstanding contributions of women scientists under 45 years old basic and applied research in the fields of biosciences and biotechnology including biomedical science, agricultural and environmental science department. 

The award cash prize of Rs. 1 lakh with citation plus a gold medal and a research grant of Rs 5 lakh per annum for a period of five years

Qualification

Indian Citizens in basic and applied research in the areas of biosciences and biotechnology

an outstanding and significant contribution to the in the fields of biosciences and biotechnology during the last five years

Age limit: below 45 years

Nomination

• The women candidates can be nominated by members of the SAC (O), DBT, VC of Universities / Deemed Universities. chairman, UGC, DGs of CSIR, ICAR, ICMR, DRDO, etc.
• The nomination will need to be sent in the prescribed proforma
• TA/DA: The selected awardees for attending the award ceremony will be paid by DBT according to Govt. of India rules.

How to apply

Nomination proforma ought to be submitted through online DBT portal (ePromis)

Last date: August 31^st, 2019
